Saint-Gobain Maintenance Superintendent in ENNIS, Texas
The Maintenance Superintendent position requires strong leadership skills, and ability to interact with all departmental functions within the plant, including but not limited to, safety training, repair of equipment, predictive maintenance planning, and preventative maintenance of existing machines. The incumbent must exercise discretion when making decisions and use independent judgment within policy and procedure guidelines. Requires use of Continuous Improvement analytical tools to assist in problem resolution relative to production needs, and thorough understanding of plant processes. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. Manage preventative and reactive maintenance to optimize production efficiency while minimizing maintenance costs. Will prepare and submit internal and external reports according to local and department requirements including capital appropriations, maintenance spending, and capital spending reports. Utilization of Continuous Improvement tools to develop applicable projects for the plant. Significant involvement in problem solving situations relative to preventive and predictive maintenance, installation, modification, and repair of equipment. Process owner of the WCM Reliability Pillar and will manage objectives, activities, and projects of the pillar.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages preventative and reactive maintenance to optimize production efficiency while minimizing maintenance costs. Planning, scheduling, & budgeting maintenance activities.
Prepare and submit internal and external reports according to local and department requirements including capital appropriations, maintenance spending, and capital spending reports.
Responsibilities include a thorough knowledge of PLC's, AC/DC motors, and servo drives.
Assess current maintenance work processes, to optimize efficiency.
Use of data analysis to help prepare for and prevent future problems.
Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs through continuous improvement.
Proactivity manages maintenance team and performs evaluations of team members to ensure quality of work and expectations are being met.
Must advise, counsel and coach effectively, utilize progressive discipline, taking corrective actions when warranted for team members.
Continually develops, train and motivates direct reports to ensure an effective team that continuously works to upgrade skills and competencies.

BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred) and/or 3 to 7 plus years’ supervisory experience, as well as exposure in a manufacturing environment.
This position requires an understanding of the production operation and its practices and procedures, as well as a high level of human relation’s skills to develop and motivate subordinates.
Must demonstrate core competencies of engagement in safe work behaviors, effective communications, listening, and organizational skills.
Must understand machine operations and be fully committed to accomplishing tasks in a safe manner.
Must be computer literate and have knowledge of lean manufacturing principles such as Six Sigma.
