Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:Reporting to the Director of Training, the Learning and Development Specialist will develop, coordinate, and deliver regulatory and staff development trainings to current and new staff working across the agency, maintaining certifications where required.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Network Administrator for internal and external Learning Management Systems used to schedule staff for training, facilitate training, generate training reports, track and retain records of all staff throughout agency.

  • Responsible for coordination of on-going trainings and in-service for entire agency ranging from entry level to upper management provided virtually and in classroom style sessions.

  • Responsible for creating curriculums, updating training content, and facilitating trainings and new hire orientation to meet agency needs and ensure training is in compliance with State and Federal regulations, course requirements, and agency policies and procedures OSHA, Leadership Training, Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP-R), American Heart Association Heart Saver course, and Cultural Competency.

  • Assist in preparation or response to state audits, with employee training records for course completions.

  • Responsible for the coordination of invoice approvals and renewal of contractual agreements for the Training Department and it’s staff with agencies including American Heart Association.

  • Attend and participate in, Committee Meetings, Supervisory meetings with divisions leads and other Administrative and Managerial staff as needed to ensure improvement in the quality of training provided.

  • Monitor guidance from regulatory bodies, communicating with management of programs and supervisor(s) verbally and in writing for the purpose of identifying and trainings and / or technical assistance that may be needed in addition to those regularly scheduled.

  • Communicate information effectively to staff during training and other means including via phone, email, fax, and through other written material.

  • Provide added support to the day-to-day operations of the department, as needed, including ordering supplies, scheduling meetings, sending cross-departmental reminders, registering staff for trainings, grading quizzes, updating and maintaining tracking documents, and submitting maintenance and IT ticket requests.

  • Create and update departmental training calendar, as required.

  • Attend trainings as assigned by supervisor, in and outside of the agency.

  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Ensure all instructor training certifications are active and in good standing.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Human Resources, Social Work, Behavioral Health or related fields preferred; Excellent platform, standup and communication skills; NYS SCIP Instructorship and American Red Cross/American Heart Association CPR, First Aid Instructorship preferred. Knowledge of the developmentally disabled and psychiatrically impaired population and working knowledge of State and Federal Regulations, preferred. Excellent communication and training skills are required.
