Position is located: Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 40 Hours per Week

Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

This position is eligible for a $7,000 (minus tax) sign on bonus with less than 2 years' experience or $10,000 with more than 2 years' experience, with work commitment.

Current employees of any Northern Light Health organization or those with service breaks less than one year are not eligible to receive the sign-on bonus

Summary

Assists in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.

Responsibilities

•Maintains sterile operative fields.

•Maintains inventory of medical supplies or equipment.

•Assists healthcare practitioners during surgery.

•Positions patients for treatment or examination.

•Protect patients or staff members using safety equipment. Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.

•May perform other duties upon request.

Other Information

•Graduate of Accredited Surgical Technologists Program to include certification.

•BLS required.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Adheres to a set of moral principles with an understanding of philosophical thought.

  • Follows established procedures and standards to limit the spread of infection.

  • Manages inventory, which may include re-stocking, back ordering, purchasing, and returning.

  • Works to meet patient's psychological, emotional, or physical needs.

  • Works to ensure a safe environment for staff and patients.

  • Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.

  • Work with members of the team or department in an effective and efficient manner. Shares knowledge and serves as a resource in a team environment.

  • Leverages software and/or hardware relative to job function.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education Essential:

  • High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)

Working Conditions

Essential:
