ZTEX CONSTRUCTION Construction Superintendent-Underground Utilities in EL PASO, Texas
ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are currently looking for a Construction.
The Construction Utilities Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of utility installation and infrastructure construction on a project, including planning, managing labor, coordinating with other trades, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering projects on time and within budget, while specifically focusing on underground utilities like water, sewer, gas, and electrical lines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Daily duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage project schedules and timelines for utility installation phases.
- Lead and supervise crews of utility workers, including trenching operators, pipe installers, and backfill crews.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations on the job site, including proper trench shoring and hazard identification.
- Monitor work quality and address any issues related to installation techniques and materials.
- Manage the ordering, delivery, and inventory of utility materials like pipes, fittings, valves, and trenching supplies.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality control of materials.
- Perform regular inspections of utility installations to verify compliance with project specifications and local codes.
- Coordinate with inspectors from regulatory agencies to ensure proper permitting and approvals.
- Maintain open communication with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate work activities.
- Address any conflicts or issues arising from utility installation and work with the team to find solutions.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of utility systems on construction sites.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices during all utility work.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Support project managers in achieving project timelines and budgets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven skills and ability with utility systems and construction site operations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Experience and knowledge in construction management or related field is required.

Experience, Education and Training
- 3-5 years of drainage/pipe experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and promote a safe work environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements
- Able to work around moving equipment
- Move heavy objects 50 - 90lbs
- Bend or stoop repeatedly throughout the day
- Follow all Safety Regulation
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Able to walk on rough, rocky or uneven surfaces at construction sites
