Funded through a Foundation Account, sponsored by the Illinois Corn Growers Association, the Fellowship program is intended to provide training and hands-on experience to prepare the next generation of engineers and scientists for work in mid- to high- skill jobs in the bioeconomy.\ \ Graduates of the Research Fellowship Program will be qualified to work in the biorenewables, brewing, specialty chemicals and refining industries.\ \ The Fellow will provide specialized skills and knowledge outside of the realm of traditional full-time staff to be applied to research projects, including contractual, grant-funded, sponsored and self-initiated projects at the Center.\ Specific Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes:\ \ A Visiting Research Fellow will gain experience through hands-on assignments at the Pilot Plant in the following categories:\ Visiting Research Fellow will gain experience through hands-on assignments in the following categories:\ \ Process instrumentation & controls installation, programming and troubleshooting\ Installation of mechanical systems: metal working, piping systems, electrical enclosure fabrication, etc.\ Contact with equipment providers to source items needed for research trials in the pilot plant\ Operation of bioreactors, ranging in scale from 5 liter to 22,000-liter volume\ Troubleshooting and maintenance of bioreactors and fermentation related equipment\ Project design, implementation and project management\ Data collection, analysis, and reporting\ Revising and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)\ Communications with internal, interdisciplinary teams as well as industry clients, academic collaborators and external stakeholders\ \ *\ Minimum Qualifications\ *Recent graduates of a bachelor\'s or master\'s program, or a 2-year degree in a STEM field\ \ *Source of Funds\ *lllinois Corn Growers Association, Sponsored Foundation Account\ \ *Salary\ *\$30, 628 for a nine-month appointment\ \ *Application Process\ *Submit Resume or CV, Transcript(s), and a list of 3 professional job references.\ Send all items via email to:\ NCERC\ Barb Randle\ brandle@siue.edu\ \ *Application Deadline\ *Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until all positions are filled.\ \ SIUE is a state university.
