ITW Staff Accountant - Sales and Use Tax in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

MTS Systems, is seeking a Staff Accountant who has a high attention to detail, is a problem solver, self-starter and has a positive team player attitude. This role is a key member of our accounting team located at our headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. This position is primarily responsible for performing sales and use tax-related activities in addition to other general accounting work
Prepares sales and use tax reports timely and accurately
Maintains tax notices, records, returns for proper record-keeping
Maintains business licenses and applicable compliance documentation
Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act requirements
Actively participates in the month-end close process, prepares journal entries, troubleshoots and resolves discrepancies.
Reconciles and analyzes general ledger accounts.
Prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits.
Interacts and collaborates cross-functionally for assigned job responsibilities and projects.
Supports internal and external audits and reviews.
Performs other accounting or analysis projects or duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP account concepts and terminology
Two (2) years of experience with sales and use tax
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Excel skills
Accounting experience
Major ERP experience SAP preferred
Sarbanes Oxley knowledge helpful
