The Mechanic, Welder/Maintenance, under the directions of the Supervisor, is responsible for supporting and safely maintaining Barry Callebaut equipment that ensures that we produce the highest quality product while maintaining GMP, HACCP and safety guidelines.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance of Barry Callebaut LLC operations;
Support production by ensuring the safe and proper operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment;
Mechanical troubleshooting, i.e. hydraulic and pneumatic, pumps, gear reducers, etc.;
High pressure boiler operations;
Perform duties with or without close supervision;
Coordinate and complete projects, on occasion with outside vendors;
Fabricate parts and perform welding on equipment;
Generate work orders, complete work orders, and close work orders using a computerized maintenance management system;
Rebuild equipment such as pumps and blowers;
Safely rig equipment or tools for overhead travel or repair;
Demonstrate problem solving skills to make emergency repairs
Safely operate heavy equipment for plant repairs;
Thread and install pipe for water, steam or air;
Operate machining equipment to make parts for repairs;
Test/disconnect and replace electric motors;
Communicate with supervisor for direction, to keep supervisor informed of problems and equipment that is not operating properly;
Help in the training of new employees, both production and maintenance when required;
Maintain a clean, neat and safe work environment;
Participate in the safety related training programs;
Ensure the proper documentation of repairs, listing parts, record keeping and following the work flow process;
Must promote a safe working environment and good GMP’s
Committed to providing a safe food product
Works within all regulatory requirements
Perform established PM and PdM activities and identify new opportunities for improvement;
Follow all GMP, HACCP and Safety regulations and guidelines
Perform all other related duties as requested
About you:
High school degree, technical school preferred;
Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food processing related.
Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical power transmission systems, i.e. chain drives, gearboxes;
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment, i.e. pumps, seals, bearings, blowers, etc.;
Proficiency in troubleshooting automated processes, installing and repairing new and existing equipment, and responding to machine and equipment issues in all areas of the facility;
Ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings and schematics;
Proficiency in hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting
Intermediate computer skills including MS Office, Lotus Notes, etc.;
Lifting up to 60 lbs. and standing and walking for long periods of time;
Must be able to work from an elevated platform;
Must be able to work independently, follow through and complete tasks, and handle a multi-task workload;
Must be able to work as part of a team with little to no supervision
