We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Mechanical and MEP group at our growing RTP office as a SME Mechanical Engineer. Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design evaluations and lead project engineering design, specific to Mechanical and HVAC Engineering.

  • Have thorough knowledge of the applicable Building, Mechanical, HVAC, and Plumbing Codes.

  • Design mechanical systems, conduct energy modeling analysis, and perform energy code compliance calculations.

  • Prepare engineering analysis of projects including preliminary design, budget analysis, calculations, life cycle costs, and equipment selection.

  • Prepare drawings and layouts; proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD.

  • Prepare technical construction specifications.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines both in-house and with outside consultants.

  • Perform field observations as part of the construction quality assurance process.

Essential Skills

  • 4-year Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited institution.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.

  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Proficient computer skills in Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

  • NC PE or ability to acquire NC PE quickly through reciprocity.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.

  • High technical ability, interested in technology and staying current in the field.

  • Good ability to communicate and a self-starter.

  • An interdisciplinary systems approach to engineering.

  • Experience with financial metrics and data analytics.

  • Experience in mechanical building systems and drawing sets in CAD or Revit.

  • Familiarity with MEP work for buildings and comfortable with NEC, NESC, IEEE standards.

  • Creative thinking and the ability to present ideas to the team, clients, and beyond.

Work Environment

Individual would need to work out of the Durham office for 3-6 months and then have more flexibility. The role offers WFH flexibility with an initial preference for more in-office presence. The company pays well and provides an environment with equal numbers of engineers and architects, promoting no hierarchy or chain of command. It is a sought-after MEP + Architecture firm in the Raleigh-Durham area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.
