Devoted to providing technical support, administration, and maintenance of a department’s technology systems and equipment, including user support, data management and data extraction/analysis. Provide complex and advanced paraprofessional technology support work.
Responsible for coordinating transactions and processes at the highest level of standard operating tasks, including providing direction to lower level staff in the execution of operational tasks and review and verification of work. Provide data, systems, and hardware/software support for a department’s systems.
Duties/Responsibilities
Provides systems, hardware, and/or software support for the Public Works department; work involves install ing software patches and upgrades; tests and troubleshoots system s , and/or equipment issues; processes calls; and responds to user requests.
Prepares, maintains, reviews, and/or submits technical, project, and other reports, records, user guides, and other documents; updates and maintains databases and online systems; compiles queries, and reconciles data; reviews work for accuracy, completeness and compliance with specifications, requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Coordinates with City departments, and/or external agencies; provides technical assistance at formal meetings; assists with planning and process improvements; and may conduct training, as assigned.
Computer/Equipment Installation and Maintenance: physical cleaning, MS updates, driver updates, install printer drivers, test UPS units, keep network ready, monitor/maintain ample disk space, damage inspection, battery check, performance, schedule repairs/upgrades/maintenance/replacements.
Software Maintenance: install/configure approved software and software updates/patches.
Cellular Device Setup/Maintenance: activation, setup AppStore accounts, voice mailbox, install standard apps, install protective screen covers and cases.
AV support for conference rooms.
Provides diagnostics and resolution for network, computer, printer, cellular devices, and software issues.
Provides Tier 1 level support and training of equipment and software. Responds to help desk requests as assigned.
Creates, revises, and maintains forms and spreadsheets for collecting/reporting data.
Assists in systems analysis, deployment, and configuration of hardware.
Assists with hardware and software inventory.
Performs the role of a technology liaison for the department.
Good communication, teamwork, collaboration, analysis, problem solving, and customer service skills.
Performs related tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or directly related field,
Three years of related technology support experience.
Additional Preferred Skills
Valid NC Class C Driver's License.
Working experience in government/public sector.
Experience providing Tier 1 level user support and training.
Experience with hardware and software deployment and support.
