At Pauley Construction , as a Foreman on our Telecom Underground team, you’ll lead crews in the installation and maintenance of underground telecommunication systems. This position is responsible for overall safety, materials, reporting, customers, leadership, employee communication, and productivity measures. This position will specifically manage a crew that can oversee a specific set of operations which can include, but not limited to: Trench & Plow, Aerial, Drilling/Bore, Asphalt or Conduit. This can include machine operation as well. This position must be able to interface with customer and city inspectors on a frequent basis, coordinate pre-construction meetings, keep detailed safety and production records, do as-builds as required and be a leader for all the crews. The ideal candidate will also need to be a skilled excavation operator. This position will also assist with getting permits, ensuring crew and site safety and calling locates.

    What you’ll do as a Foreman

  • General oversight over work direction within a crew or a group of sub-contractors.

  • Assisting in securing site; employees and safety

  • Read and understand blueprints

  • Help ensure everyone is following company safety policies, OSHA, and DOT regulations

  • Assist Supervisor with day to day activities

  • Speak with property owners about work to be performed and resolve any issues

  • Safely use heavy equipment and machinery

  • Perform work in all weather conditions

  • Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment.

  • Excavation operations including operating equipment and transportation of equipment if needed

  • General maintenance

  • General utility installation/repair

  • Assists with as-builds and ensures attention to detail and high quality work

  • May assist supervisor in administrative tasks relating to hiring and interviewing employees.

    What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older

  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company

  • A valid driver’s license

  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience preferred

  • Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.

  • Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.

  • May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.

  • May include working nights and holidays as needed.

  • May be required to travel in state or overnight as necessary to meet business needs.

  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.

    Additional qualifications

  • Previous Foreman experience preferred

  • 6-12 months of work-related experience pertaining to utility construction, telecommunications or laborer related work

  • Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high quality results

  • Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates ability to perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Ability to make common sense understanding to carry out instructions that are provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations involving employees,

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages and area. Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safety rules and requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures. Ability to write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively to customers, coworkers, vendors and the public.

    Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely : work alone in remote locations and in confined spaces with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds

  • Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse

    Pay Range: The Foreman Telecom Underground position pays an hourly wage of $23.00 - $25.00 per hour depending upon experience.
