County of Surry Surry Transition Project - Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist in Dobson, North Carolina

RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT Surry County Office of Substance Abuse Recovery Surry Transition Project - Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist The Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) works within the Office of Substance Abuse Recovery to provide screening, assessment and substance use focused counseling and support to detainees within the Surry County Detention Center. The position will work closely with the SCOSAR Director, Detention Center Staff and SCOSAR Staff in the delivery of high-quality secure custody clinical behavioral health care and pre-release planning. The position will require deep clinical knowledge and background in supporting the needs of individuals and families involved in both the criminal justice system and suffering from the disease of addiction. The LCAS performs initial screening, intake, and orientation to service for participating detainees based on program policies and expectations. The position will serve as the clinical lead in providing individual and group counseling sessions in person and via virtual methods. The staff will serve as a subject matter expert on the variety of services provided by SCOSAR, EMS, Health and Nutrition Center, Department of Social Services and other agencies while helping to formulate treatment plans based on clinical need. It is expected that the LCAS will participate in departmental training and collaborate with other treatment providers while following strict ethical and clinical guidelines. The staff member will be expected to work with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team which includes staff from County departments and community organizations. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to psychosocial assessment, treatment team activities, documentation, individual and group sessions, crisis intervention and quality assurance knowledge and understanding of ASAM Placement Criteria is a must. This position reports directly to the SCOSAR Director. DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A Master's Degree and valid licensure to practice in North Carolina from the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board as Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS). Exceptionally qualified provisionally associate licensed individuals may be considered. Strong patient assessment skills, including mental status exam and use of screening tools (SASSI, PHQ9, GAD 7), Knowledge of DSM-V, experience conducting Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCA) and Treatment Plan Development. Understanding of criminogenic needs and the criminal justice system. Ability to work independently using effective communication, patient/customer care, and leadership abilities. Ability to organize and time-manage. Requires a valid drivers licensure insurable at regular rates. SALARY RANGE: Grade 67 $40,895 - $68,102 This position is grant funded from the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
