    Assistant Middle School/High School Musical Director Job Summary:

Saydel Community School District is seeking adedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Musical Directorto support the production of acomprehensive middle school/high school musical in the spring of the 2025-26 school year. This individual will work alongside the Head Musical Director to provide artistic and logistical support, help develop student talent, and contribute to the success of the production. The ideal candidate is passionate about musical theater, skilled in collaboration, and eager to inspire students in both performance and technical aspects of theater.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Support:Assist the Head Musical Director in selecting, planning, and executing all aspects of the spring musical.

  • Student Engagement:Encourage and mentor students in acting, singing, dancing, and technical theater roles, promoting an inclusive and supportive environment.

  • Rehearsals & Coaching:Lead or assist with rehearsals, helping students refine their vocal performance, acting, and stage presence.

  • Collaboration:Work closely with the Head Musical Director, choreographer, pit director, and other staff members to coordinate production elements.

  • Theatrical Development:Support students in character development, stage direction, and confidence-building for performances.

  • Logistics & Organization:Help manage rehearsal schedules, coordinate costumes/props, and assist with set design and backstage operations.

  • Communication:Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff to ensure a well-organized and successful production.

  • Theater & Facility Coordination:Work with the auditorium manager and school staff to ensure proper use of facilities and technical equipment.

    Qualifications:

  • Experience in musical theater, directing, vocal coaching, or performance.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and community members.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Passion for working with students and fostering a love for the performing arts.

  • Knowledge of stage production elements such as choreography, set design, and lighting is a plus.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching or directing experience in theater or music.

  • Background in vocal performance, musical accompaniment, or stage direction.

This is a schedule B stipend position
