In this role, you will perform a wide range of research and analytics tasks within the mining industry as well as work on client projects within mining operations.
You will also collaborate with our global Metals and Mining practice network to share and build knowledge, best practices and relevant new ideas. Your work will be multifaceted and exciting, and you will gain insights into many topics. In project work and in exchanges with colleagues, you will deal with new intellectual challenges daily as well as build your industry and functional knowledge on an ongoing basis. Your Growth You will join our Denver office as part of our MineLens team and our global Metals and Mining practice.
MineLens leverages McKinsey's industry expertise alongside the extensive experience our mining professionals have along the entire mining value chain to help companies implement transformations at mine sites around the world. MineLens analyzes labor, cost, and equipment-productivity data; benchmarks that data against a global set of peers; and delivers insights into performance-improvement opportunities. Your qualifications and skills
Undergraduate degree with excellent academic record in mechanical engineering or other related area; advanced degree in similar field a plus (e.g. master's) 3+ years of relevant experience in asset maintenance for fixed and/or mobile equipment within a mining company, mine site or an original equipment manufacturer Significant understanding of the industry dynamics of the mining sector Experience in data analysis and interest in developing new approaches to mining data analysis and application to operational improvement Outstanding performance track record and career development Strong business and industry acumen Excellent problem solving skills Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills in English; additional fluency in languages such as Spanish or French a plus
