Stetson University Director of Baseball Operations AS6523 in DeLand, Florida

Reporting to the Head Baseball Coach, the Director of Baseball Operations is responsible for all aspects of the administrative duties and operational activities of a NCAA Division I Baseball program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all aspects of the administrative and operational activities of the Stetson Baseball program

  • Secure, train, and supervise team managers, office assistants, and student assistants

  • Manage all efforts in regards to both practice and game preparations

  • Assist Head Coach with future game scheduling

  • Coordinate and organize Pre-Season Baseball in conjunction with the Head Baseball Coach

  • Coordinate the Summer jobs program

  • Coordinate operational activities of Synergy video system

  • Assist with player development, including managing new student registration, forms, and all work study opportunities

  • Coordinate all team travel arrangements, including airline, bus, hotel, food reservations

  • Responsible for bid process, negotiation, and selection of air fare hotels and buses for home and away games

  • Serve as advance individual for all away games

  • Prepare travel itineraries, travel lists, and bus lists for away games; coordinate local transportation, hotel arrangements, meals, practice site set-up, and all team functions; liaison between hotel and Baseball staff; and work with Compliance office (Travel issues, game tickets, official and un-official visits)

  • Oversee annual golf outing, VIP parking sales and management, and the promotion/management of the Dugout club

  • Coordinate Special Fundraising projects

  • Perform other site and position specific duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication

  • Experience with day-to-day administrative; including but not limited to implementation of running and workout programs, budget management, professional development, NCAA rules and regulations, organization skills, and supporting the educational goals and ideals of the members of the baseball program

  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations; and a commitment to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NCAA and ASUN Conference as required

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, admissions and financial aid officers, fellow employees, program boosters, and the public

  • Knowledge of all computer-related duties, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, ARMS

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least five years of related experience at the college level

  • A commitment to the academic goals of Stetson University

    Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications: The ideal candidate’s qualifications include:

  • Master's degree

  • Ability to lead with integrity and positively influence the lives and athletic careers of the student-athletes on the Baseball Team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Superb organization skills to effectively manage and lead Baseball program

    Work Environment: Duties require: both indoor and outdoor work; direct exposure to prevailing weather, extreme heat, humidity, and extreme cold; physical ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to fifty pounds; ability to work hours outside the normal University schedule; physical ability to travel; perceptual demands for sound, form, depth.
