Position Purpose:

Assists with the planning, organization and management of the daily operations, maintenance and testing of a wastewater system. Ensures compliance with established environmental, safety, operating, and emergency response procedures. Maintains ongoing client interface to keep Client informed and enhance client relations.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Order and follow up on spare parts. Create requisitions in Ariba (Purchasing System).

  • Provide high level of oversight to the operations and maintenance leads.

  • Provide Administrative oversight of the CMMS program. (Jobs Plus).

  • List, organize and prioritize critical needs and operational issues.

  • Provide operational support to nearby facilities if needed.

  • Oversee lab operations and validate data.

  • Assure that the PCMP program is being followed and recommend updates as needed.

  • Review and validate Hach WIMS data entry.

  • Help implement process control policies, procedures and directives to improve plant performance.

  • Continually monitor processes to assure compliance with NPDES reporting requirements.

  • Verify accuracy and train operators on all plant instrumentation. (Phosphax unit, PH, Nitrate, DO and Chlorine analysers).

  • Monitor chemical dosing to improve usage and meet cost saving initiatives.

  • Monitor plant safety requirements to include MIR, Job Observations, Site Specific safety reviews, and proactive safety and leading indicator logs. Participate in all facility Audits.

  • Set up training schedules for new hires.

  • Develop refresher training schedule for critical plant processes. (Dewatering, GBT, Denitrification and Disinfection).

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent related experience with completion of an accredited management course.

  • Three to five years progressive lead and/or supervisory experience within a wastewater Treatment environment with thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, principles, and practices of water/wastewater treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection.

  • May require knowledge of a particular specialty i.e. Public Works, Sewer collection, etc.

  • Lab experience for permit testing requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose process problems and manage remedial action.

  • Exposure to budget preparation and cost control and demonstrates the ability to forecast budget, staffing and equipment needs.

  • Demonstrated effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills in order to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, effective, and complete and easily understood written communications and reports.

  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software and the ability to optimize the use of technology and systems to communicate, manage budget and to streamline processes and increase efficiency.

  • Familiarity with maintenance, operation, regulatory reporting and cost estimating software.

  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).

  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-ca ll if required by site.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with an understanding of Human Resources/Relations principals.

  • Knowledge of Process/Operations Management, QA/QC procedures, Safety, Environmental and Facilities I Capital Equipment Management.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Highest level of certification as a wastewater operator required by site. If from another state, must achieve certification within one year of appointment to Assistant Plant Manager.

  • Valid Driver's license and safe driving record.
