Unified Community Connections Direct Support Specialist in Cumberland, Maryland
The Direct Support Professional DSP provides support and assistance to adults with developmental disabilities; helps in the development of the individual's independent living skills; develops and implements energetic leisure and recreational activities for the individuals, transports individuals throughout the community, maintains documentation and contact with the Nurse, House Manager, Assistant Residential Director or Residential Program Director, as appropriate. Paid training is provided for MANDT, CPR/FA, BBA, and more.

Job Duties include:
- Coordinating and participating in recreational activities
- Transporting individuals within the community
- Maintaining/cleaning the residence, preparing meals, and laundry
- Managing overall health including medications and medical appointments
- Documenting your work as progress notes in an electronic records system
- Other duties as assigned
The following are required to be considered for employment:
- COVID-19 Vaccine
- Valid Driver's License
- Motor Vehicle Record with 2 or less points
- Ability to lift 50 Lbs. unassisted
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbally and written) in English with individuals, medical professionals and co-workers
- Demonstrated ability to use basic computers skills using and electronic record/medication administration system.
- Demonstrated ability to use math skills to administer medication.
- Ability to safely handle a motor vehicle and transport others including individuals and staff.
- Ability to push, pull, and bend up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Shifts Available (Full-Time and Part-Time available):
- Monday thru Friday - Morning, Evening, and Night Shifts
- Saturday and Sunday - Morning, Evening, and Night Shifts
- Overnight shifts are awake overnight. All shifts require staff to alert, active and available.

Qualifications
Education
Required
High School or better.
Experience

Comprehensive paid training is provided! To succeed, applicants must have the ability to comprehend instructions (verbal and written) and write and complete forms as required. Demonstrate the ability to communicate with individuals, medical professionals and co-workers. Demonstrate basic computer skills using an electronic records/medication administration system (I-care). Lifting up to 50lbs. unassisted is required.
