Responsibilities
As a Teacher Aide, your duties will include:
Supporting individual children and the overall classroom needs under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
Reviewing IEPs and collaborating with the teacher to support children’s instructional and social-emotional development.
Assisting children with daily tasks such as toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, and positioning.
Observing therapy sessions and ensuring skill development continues within the classroom setting.
Maintaining accurate records and completing program-related documentation.
Communicating effectively with the team and participating in relevant meetings.
Providing ideas and showing initiative to enhance the educational environment.
Adhering to professional standards of behavior and dress while contributing to a positive work culture.
Attending required training and upholding program regulations.
Accept feedback, show initiative, and contribute to the development of the educational setting.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED, fingerprint clearance, and New York State Central Registry clearance.
Experience: Must be of 18 years of age witch aide experience preferred.
Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with teamwork and organizational abilities.
Physical Requirements: Ability to physically assist children to participate in the program; ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds; ability to engage in repetitive movements such as sitting/kneeling on floor, bending and stooping; ability to move quickly to attend to a running child.
