Job Description:

Basic Function

To operate Lathe machines at first article proven stage to produce scheduled production rate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, first article and in-process inspection

• Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above

• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor

• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations

• Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines

• Replace tools as required

• Keep required documents in place (travelers, blueprints, tool maintenance log, daily production log)

• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up

• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels

• Performs job assignments in accordance with Job Travelers

• Creates job setup sheets as applicable

• Maintains Quality records

• Initial or sign and date all documents and revisions as applicable

• Performs other work-related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Required basic cutting tool knowledge

• Basic knowledge for basic inspection skills

• Basic knowledge of different CNC controls

• Basic knowledge of differences between materials

• Basic math skills

• Basic knowledge of understanding blueprints

• Basic knowledge of routing

• Knowledgeable of the applicable QMS policies and procedures applicable to the position

• Trained in the nonconforming material procedure

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to machine shop environment to include moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and/or caustic chemicals. Safety Glasses must be worn at all times.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Compensation Information:

$18.52-$23.49
