Painter- Building Ops & Maintenance Requisition ID 2024-53787 Category Engineering Overview Painter-Building Operations & Maintenance The painter is responsible for the complete restoration, refinishing and decoration of wall surfaces, graphics, furniture, cabinets and miscellaneous items. This includes the building shell of the main complex and all owned off-sites and all wall systems and hardware and fixtures relating to those systems. The Painter also assists departments throughout the Hospital system via the work request system, performing paint related or other work that cannot be completed by the department. Must be able to work independently from written or oral instructions without supervision or assistance. Prepares estimates pertaining to material and labor costs and orders materials for such estimates and shop stock as needed. May be required to work after normal hours; weekends and holidays, work outside during inclement weather. Responsibilities Prepares surfaces for finishing i.e. sanding, spackling, caulking, etc. Works from blueprints, sketches and specification manuals Repair/replace drywall, plaster and other wall systems as needed. Mixes paint for proper color, tint, texture and consistency, maintaining building paint standards. Applies and repairs wallpaper, vinyl wall covering and wall protection systems. Designs, applies and repairs wall graphics and assists department in correct color schemes. Refinishes wood furniture, base cabinets, counter tops and doors. Removes and installs shelving, pictures and graphics to prepare for wall repairs and painting. Maintain the exterior painting of buildings, curbs, signs, handrails, helipad and doors. Install striping and window coverings as needed. Orders and maintains ready stock of paint material. Prepares estimates for projects including materials and labor. Set-up and take down of scaffolding and work platforms. Contact Vendors and work in conjunction with outside contractors. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Education: High School graduate or equivalent with one year apprenticeship Experience
