Job Summary

The Department of Music at Colorado College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2025.

Music at Colorado College invites students to explore the myriad ways music and sound are central to human experience through a combination of analytical methodologies, creative processes, and performance practices from the past and present with an ear to the future. Through such experiences, students will gain the knowledge and skills to engage music meaningfully throughout their lives.

We seek a colleague with expertise in digital music technologies and an interest in community-based learning. The position requires teaching six courses each academic year. Two of these courses will be Digital Music Production and the remaining courses will be determined based on the needs of the department as well as the specialties of the successful candidate.

Colorado College operates under a unique academic model called the Block Plan. Students take one course at a time for three-and-a-half weeks with a four-day break between courses. Faculty teach six of the eight blocks in the academic year with the remaining two designated as non-teaching blocks.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD (or ABD) in Music or Music-related field; In-person classroom teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching music at the undergraduate level; Research interests in music technology
