Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the level two Information System Security Officer (ISSO) position on our team of qualified, diverse individuals committed to driving success for our customers.

The top candidate shall be responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for classified information systems and as such, works in close collaboration with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Information System Owner (ISO). The position shall have the detailed knowledge and expertise required to manage the day-to-day security aspects and operations of classified Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities and information systems supporting DoD agencies.

More specifically, security operations include physical and environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training and awareness. The candidate will be required to work in close coordination with the ISSM and ISO in monitoring any information systems and its environment of operation to include developing and updating the authorization documentation and implementing configuration management across authorization boundaries. This will include assessing the security impact of those changes and making recommendations to the ISSM.

Compensation Minimum: $120,000

Compensation Maximum: $125,000

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

  • Possesses Top Secret clearance, is SCI eligible, and SAP accessible
  • +5 years of relevant DoD work experience with no less than 2 years' experience SAP and/or SCI environment
  • Personnel in designated positions may be required to consent to and successfully complete a Government Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph
  • Ability to develop physical or logical topologies for a system
  • Understands the ISSM role and can assist the ISSM in meeting their duties and responsibilities
  • Familiar with preparing, reviewing, and updating authorization packages
  • Experienced with ensuring approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying various types of hardware and media
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package
  • Understands the need to coordinate any changes or modifications to hardware, software, or firmware of a system with the ISSM and Authorizing Official (AO)/Designated Authorizing Official (DAO) prior to the change
  • Skilled at monitoring system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning correctly
  • Able to ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals
  • Has experience with ensuring audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (to include any anomalies)
  • Maintains currency in and attends required technical and security training (e.g., operating system, networking, security management) relative to assigned duties
  • Executed or participated in the cyber security portion of a self-inspection (or similar), to include provide security coordination and review of all system assessment plans
  • Experience with identifying cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with the implementation of the countermeasures for them
  • Ability to prepared reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems
  • Knowledge of conducting security impact analysis activities and the need to provide the ISSM all configuration management changes to the authorization boundaries and continuous monitoring of those boundaries
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and assisting Department of Defense, Nati nal Agency and/or Contractor organizations
  • Proven ability to perform all functional duties independently Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree
