The Department of Public Works is seeking a highly committed, organized and analytical engineering professional, with exceptional written and oral communication skills, to lead its Engineering Division. Provides management, oversight and leadership of a team of four. Directs and conducts engineering activities associated with the investigation, design, maintenance and construction of public improvement projects including transportation, buildings, stormwater, and sewer.
Advanced technical and analytical skills to address complex problems, including design and construction, in areas such as wastewater collection, stormwater, public facilities, streets & highways, bike & pedestrian paths. Demonstrable knowledge of procedures and practices for the assessment of public infrastructure, collection and management of data, development and prioritization of capital budgeting, and all phases of project management.
Bachelors degree in civil engineering, or a closely-related field, and 10 years of progressively responsible civil engineering and public works or utilities experience, including public interaction and engagement, and at least three years of supervisory experience. Excellent technical skills, including MS Office Suite, GIS and other specialized software. VT Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and a valid drivers license required.
