The Sherwin-Williams Company Senior Data Scientist - Forecasting in Cleveland, Ohio

This role is part of the Data Science team within the Enterprise Data & Insights organization. The position is expected to work with the data science team to plan, design, and create forecasts from time series data such as demand, revenue, and pricing models to enhance the ability of Sherwin-Williams to react to changes in the business environment and help ensure that its business strategy aligns with the future as best as can be predicted. Furthermore, this role will help mentor more junior data science roles on the data science team. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: (1) Strategy and Planning: Contribute to quarterly team work plans Investigate and recommend model types and possible internal and external features that may help predict a particular time series or set of time series Collaborate with the business to translate their needs into time series/forecasting models to improve the ability to predict business targets, such as demand, revenue, and pricing Research and stay up-to-date on the tools and technology that are used for building such forecasting models Work with management to develop and review project plans and timelines (2) Design and Deployment: Participate in project discovery through requirements gathering, analysis, design documentation, and impact analysis for model design, including taking a leadership role in project analysis and requirements gathering where required Plan and organize tasks, report progress, and coordinate with other team members Perform and integrate exploratory data analysis into forecasting models Design, train, and evaluate time-series models, both univariate and multivariate, both local and global, in order to better predict business targets Collaborate with the data science solution delivery team to integrate time-series models into both transactional and analytical business applications where required Review existing code base and recommend improvements (3) Operational Management: Create and maintain design documentation Contribute and implement model sustainability Mentor more junior data science developer/analyst roles Work with management to assist in prioritizing projects (4) Additional Responsibilities: Assist with other projects as necessary to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the team FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor degree in any one of the following: Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or any other applicable Engineering/Sciences degree, or in lieu of related degree, at least 6 years of experience. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: 5+ years of IT experience. 2+ years' experience working with time series forecasting methods (both local and global models, both univariate and multivariate, for example, ARIMA, TIDE, NHITS, Prophet, DeepAR) Proficient in software development and support methodologies Basic understanding of essential business functions of an organization Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Work experience in programming using Python (or R) and SQL Possess a strong fundamental understanding statistical modeling and/or machine learning algorithms.
