Posted June 21, 2024 Date: June 2024 Title: Research Associate Department: The Center on Trauma and Adversity at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences Location: Mandel School Supervisor Name and Title: Margaret Baughman, PhD, Senior Research Associate POSITION OBJECTIVE Working independently of direct supervision of PI, the analyst will serve as the primary data contact and will assure all aspects of the projects run smoothly and the PI is continually informed of project analyses statuses. The analyst will support Dr. Baughman's research projects by collecting and analyzing data to report to project funders on program outcomes. The analyst will gather data from a number of sources and will be skilled in researching, analyzing, and reporting. Reporting will include project statuses, project annual reporting, final project reporting and analysis for manuscripts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepare detailed project management and analysis plans from which projects will be managed and reported. (20%) Analyze collected data using complex analytical techniques. (20%) Provide data interpretation as they relate to the research analysis process. (20%) Design, test, modify and document significantly complex systems requiring thorough knowledge of the software application. (15%) Prepare timely status reports and project reports. (10%) Provide input to policies, standards, and reporting requirements. (10%) Monitor performance of staff members on the project. (5%) NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. CONTACTS Department: Daily contact with supervisor and other research staff to ensure the needs of the project(s) are being addressed and to maintain workflow. University: Minimal Contact with department administrators to share information. External: May have contact with outside consultants and representatives to carry out research activities Students: Little contact with students to carry out research activities. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no direct supervision of staff employees. QUALIFICATIONS Experience and Education: 5+ years of progressive relevant experience. Master's degree required. REQUIRED SKILLS Accountability/integrity, customer/quality focus, diversity/maturity, flexibility/receptivity, interpersonal relations, leadership/supervision, planning/organizing, problem solving, project management, self-development, and teamwork. Thorough knowledge of applicable database design and access necessary for analysis Thorough knowledge of network systems/operating systems supporting research analyses. Demonstrated proficiency in languages such as R, SPSS, SAS, Python, SQL, Notion Demonstrated stills using Microsoft Office 2000 or XP products. Ability to meet consistent attendance. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors and customers face to face. WORKING CONDITIONS General office environment. The employee will perform repetitive motion using computer mouse and keyboard to type. Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires negligible physical exertion. Little or no exposure to hazards.
