Howmet Aerospace Production Manager in Cleveland, Ohio

Howmet Aerospace is searching for a Production Manager- Wheels to join our Howmet Wheel Systems (HWS) business unit in Cleveland, OH.

Major Activities & Key Challenges:

  • Responsible for the entire 3-shift production organization for HWS Cleveland Site.

  • Focus on continuous improvement to achieve OEE, value add, and financial goals as it pertains to the production organization and develop the salaried/hourly organization in continuous improvement.

  • Utilize adequate resources to meet customer demand while remaining within financial goals set forth by organizations.

  • Manage all issues related to production labor and develop a working relationship with union leadership.

  • Development and maintenance of processes for effective execution of labor contract items, including:

  • Overtime scheduling for hourly workforce

  • Maintaining accuracy of hourly payroll submissions

  • Training and support for production supervisors as needed on standard processes/work.

  • Vacation coverage for shift supervisors as needed

  • Develop the salaried workforce to drive improvement across all measures of the organization.

  • Evaluate team performance and implement training programs, promotions, and transfers as necessary.

  • Design and maintain a scale-able organizational structure that can meet fluctuating demand.

  • Guide the production team appropriately to ensure a highest level of reporting accuracy in Oracle. Including closing of completed prodution runs in Oracle ERP system.

  • Own the accuracy and thoroughness of downtime reporting through Vorne.

  • Prepare and manage the production plan each month, including staffing, resource allocation, and book closure.

  • This role requires the development, implementation, and administration of sustainable processes including Material reconciliation and inventory management, limiting WIP inventory in QA hold, internal audit ownership and/or support.

  • Ensure Environmental Health and Safety, compliance, leadership, and direction are in place and effective within the Manufacturing facilities.

Environment, Health & Safety Requirements:

  • This position involves some degree of exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed in an interior work environment. While not exposed to hazardous materials, this position requires wearing full Personal Protective Equipment to protect from mobile equipment and hot materials when on the shop floor.

  • This position requires physical activity such as walking, sitting and standing for extended periods of time.

  • This position also requires a willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule and be responsive after normal working hours for support.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED from an accredited institution

  • 7+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to build and develop a strong team

  • Strong problem solving, judgment and critical thinking skills

  • Must be self-disciplined and team oriented.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Experience/certification in lean principals

  • Demonstrated record of making continuous improvements

  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, Oracle

  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle, Excel

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, quality, supply chain management, industrial engineering

  • Seven+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to build and develop a strong team

  • Strong problem solving, judgment and critical thinking skills

  • Must be self-disciplined and team oriented.

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Experience/certification in lean principals
