Process Engineer

Job Description

Design process systems, improve current processes, and resolve process-related manufacturing issues. Manage capital projects, including cost-effective capital acquisitions, upgrades, installations, and required documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production processes and review procedures to ensure the manufacture of products

  • Facilitate problem solving (root cause analysis) within process systems and equipment, including evaluation studies and trial runs

  • Provide manufacturing support, trouble-shooting, and required reporting protocols for plant utilities/services such as plant air supply system, plant explosion protection system, plant process water system(s), and plant wastewater treatment system

  • Redesign and/or modify existing processes and procedures to solve problems or improve procedures

  • Design and implement new processes, evaluate profitability, cost structure, and prepare written justification

  • Prepare bid criteria for vendors for approved capital equipment purchases

  • Coordinate and oversee the installation of new equipment and processes through start-up, debug, operation, and written procedures

  • Act as a technical liaison between new product development initiatives and integration into manufacturing operations, including technology transfer, scale-up, process optimization, and validation activities

Essential Skills

  • Process engineering

  • Process improvement

  • Manufacturing process

  • BS degree in Engineering or Science (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics, Chemistry), preferably Chemical Engineering

  • 4+ years of Process Engineering experience

  • Experience in handling hazardous chemicals/waste streams

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in process safety management

  • Experience in capital projects

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher

  • Conceptual understanding of electrics, including PLC ladder logic

Work Environment

The tenure throughout the company is 20 years plus, with some individuals having been with the company for over 40 years. The products include pigments, toners, inks, dyes, dispersions, paints, and coatings. Work is divided 50% in office designing processes and 50% on the floor coming up with solutions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
