Position Summary:
- We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, producing financial statements, and ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met. You will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and implementing financial best practices while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Essential Job Requirements: Education • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis on accounting, finance or business management with 3 years' experience. Experience • Proven 3+ years of experience as an accountant • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles • Experience with creating financial statements • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process • Excellent QuickBooks software user and administration skills • Accuracy and attention to detail • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills Essential Skills • Expertise in QuickBooks or other accounting software • Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP's and pivot tables • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable • Payroll and payroll quarterly reports, Annual reports • Grant reporting
Job Functions: • Prepare assets, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information • Document financial transactions by entering account information • Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options • Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information • Secure financial information by completing database backups • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results to management • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status • Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process • Provide input into the department's goal-setting process • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule • Assist with tax audits and tax returns • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
