SUMMARY:

We are looking for our next dynamic leader that has a passion for operations! The Director of Plant Operations encompasses several critical responsibilities to ensure the organization's success. The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for the overall management and direction of plant operations to ensure productivity, quality, safety, positive associate relations, and cost control. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overseeing Plant Operations

  • Production Management: Supervise daily manufacturing activities to meet production targets while maintaining high-quality standards. This involves coordinating with various departments to ensure seamless operations. 
  • Process Improvement: Implement and monitor operational systems and processes that provide transparency into the goals, progress, and challenges of key initiatives. Regularly evaluate business procedures for efficiency and implement improvements. 
    • Be the lead in the identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing technology to improve costs of sales and promote on time delivery and capabilities.
  • Develop and oversee workforce planning to ensure adequate staffing levels for production demand.
  • Optimize allocation of labor, materials, and equipment to maximize operational efficiency 
  • Utilize available forecasting tools to improve resource utilization and plan operations accordingly. 

Managing the Purchasing Department and Inventory

  • Supply Chain Coordination: Developing inventory strategies from receiving dock to shipping, encompassing analysis, layout, and auditing for accurate inventory management. 
  • Inventory Control: Establish and implement methods and best practices related to systems and processes that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, material control, and scheduling. This ensures optimal inventory levels.

Fostering Positive Employee Relations

  • Team Leadership: Supervise staff across departments, providing constructive feedback and leading by example. Work closely with Human Resources to lead the team with fostering a trusting, and productive work environment. 
  • Training and Development: Staff, develop, and coach the operations, production, and administrative management team. Evaluate performance and initiate corrective action as required. 

Ensuring Quality and Safety Standards

  • Quality Assurance: Develop and enforce quality control procedures to maintain product excellence, meeting both company and customer expectations. This includes overseeing the conversion of raw materials into finished products. 
  • Safety Compliance: Champion industry best practices in quality, employee safety, and regulatory compliance. Ensure that all plant assets are properly managed and safeguarded, and that operations adhere to safety standards. 

Financial Oversight and Cost Control

Must be able to articulate capital expenditure recommendations. Evaluate the plant's performance against the plan, initiating corrective actions as necessary to achieve company growth objectives.
