Our business exposes us to various market risks, particularly changing cocoa- and non-cocoa raw material prices. This position is accountable for monitoring the market risk in our American processing and sourcing entities and analyzing and reporting our regional cocoa valuation and trading profits. Reporting to the Head of Group Risk Management, this position will work closely with the regional sourcing teams, the Finance BP Global Sourcing, and the regional finance teams.

Key responsibilities include:

Ensure a complete and correct commodity position as a basis for hedging decisions and for the position valuation:

o Analyze daily and monthly position moves from contracting and processing with the sourcing teams

o Ensure that positions are correctly reflected in source systems (SAP and Polomas) and risk systems. Participate in the design and UAT of IT projects that impact the risk position and valuation

Support and challenge the sourcing and pricing teams:

o Review positions and hedging strategies in regular review meetings. Frequency depends on the size and complexity of the position and entity

o Assess the potential risk of new instruments and business activities

Analyze the monthly cocoa trading profits and valuation in the sourcing- and chocolate business:

o Sense check the result, and analyze the drivers (positions and market moves, new contracts etc.)

o Work on the continuous improvement of the valuation model together with the Finance BP and the Group Accounting team

Prepare and lead business reviews of the local cocoa trading and sourcing business with regional- and group management

Monitor regional limit compliance

About you:

● University Master’s degree in Finance (ideally with a quantitative focus)/ Economics or similar education

● Market risk management education (e.g. FRM) is a plus

● 6+ years of experience in commodity risk/valuation/finance in a sourcing or trading environment

● Experience in financial risk and P&L analysis for commodities

● Experience with option valuation and option risk management is a plus

● Strong MS Excel skills

● SAP BW and Power BI is a plus

● Technical credibility to support and challenge the regional sourcing teams: Understand risk, hedging and P&L drivers of physical commodity trading/sourcing activities

● Strong communication skills to explain key risks and commodity P&L to finance and sourcing teams

● Big picture overview of processes and systems to identify key P&L risks in the value chain and to ensure a consistent position and valuation logic
