Pay Range: $40 - $49 per hour
Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.
Summary:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for conducting in-reach efforts for occupational therapy services through life skills and engagement activities with older adults experiencing homelessness or being newly housed from ReVive Center for Housing and Healing and The Boulevard of Chicago. The OT will assess, make recommendations, and assist clients with various barriers and disabilities, including substance use, serious mental illness, and physical disabilities with the goal of fostering independent living (and with supports) in the community. They will also provide both in-person and virtual telehealth support, ensuring accessibility and flexibility. Crafting individualized service plans that will address various needs identified in the assessments, tailoring interventions to the specific requirements of each older adult for effective support. Collaboration with shelter and housing programs will extend to the establishment of effective modifications supporting the aging population. Engaging directly with the clients and their support systems, we will develop post-discharge strategies for sustained success in remaining housed long-term.
Responsibilities:
Individual Services
● Assess program participants’ needs and establish treatment specific goals in the identified areas.
· Identified areas might include but are not limited to managing physical and mental health;
· Assessing participants’ functional: cognition and sensory processing; performance of necessary and desired activities of daily living; engagement in productive roles such as employment, education and volunteering; abilities to negotiate and self-advocate, loneliness, isolation, boredom and substance use, establishing meaningful habits and routines;
· Identifying and developing relevant and fulfilling social connections/roles and relationships; supporting a person and environmental “fit” (e.g., environmental modifications); and promoting community engagement.
· Identifying and establishing health management routine that includes chronic disease support networks, primary and specialty care connections, and self-efficacy for managing chronic conditions to prevent worsening of overall health.
● Collaborate with program participants to establish functional goals for OT treatment sessions using a strengths-based, harm reduction and trauma-informed approach. OT treatment interventions include therapeutic use of occupations and activities, interventions to support occupations, education, training, advocacy and self-advocacy, group and virtual interventions.
● Provide interventions to assist participants in achieving independence or interdependence of functionality in activities of daily living including advocacy efforts.
● Prepare and maintain accurate records including assessments, evaluations, progress notes, and referrals.
Consultative Services
● Assist Center staff in creating and developing occupational therapy program.
● The OT will provide consultative services to program participants as well as organizational staff regarding factors that impact successful engagement of program participants.
● Support the recovery of individuals with serious mental illness through screening, evaluation and documentation of functional and cognitive skills, participation on interdisciplinary treatment teams, as well as provision of individual interventions through a harm reduction framework.
● Engage in formative and summative program evaluation efforts in collaboration with program participants and supportive services team.
● Facilitate service referrals internally and/or externally for older adults experiencing homelessness or those newly housed.

Required Job Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy Program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy
Education (ACOTE). Prior to 2019 educational requirement was Bachelor's degree with Masters' degree preferred.
• Cert-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
• Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Understanding of state, federal, and professional practice laws, regulations and preferred practice patterns.
• Above average written and verbal communication skills; Flexibility and ability to manage work in a changing environment.
• Basic proficiency with a computer keyboard.

Physical Demands:
• Bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, pushing, balancing, crouching, stooping, standing, sitting, climbing, kneeling and

• Ability to be efficient in using adaptive equipment and devices.
