Job Summary
This position will be based out of the Safety & Emergency Response Training Facility (SERTF) in Chester, Virginia, and will require 50-75 % travel (not all overnight) throughout Dominion Energy's territory.
This position is responsible for conducting classroom and practical skills instruction for training courses involving structural and incipient firefighting, brigade support, confined space entry, confined space rescue, oil spill response and medic first aid. Additional responsibilities include developing and revising training materials to ensure compliance with company and governmental regulations and standards, assisting in the development of specialized training material and exercises, and in the operation of environmental control equipment. The instructor will assist in the inspection and maintenance of SERTF facilities, personal protective equipment, training equipment, vehicles, and training props as assigned. This position will provide direction for5-7 contract fire instructors assisting with classroom and field evolutions. This position will serve as a consultant to the Dominion crisis communication team and will participate in drills, create mock disaster materials using Fire simulation software and prepare station photo databases to be used in crisis communication.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
Senior Instructor:
Possess a minimum of 10-15 years related experience
Requires Virginia Department of Fire Programs Instructor - level 2, or 3 or equivalent.
Instructor:
Possess a minimum of 7-10 years related experience
Requires Virginia Department of Fire Programs Instructor - level 2, or equivalent.
Senior Instructor/Instructor:
The ability to abide by and instill safety practices into all aspects of Power Generation daily work activities and training
Successful teaming experience with highly motivated and dedicated subject matter experts in the profession of safety and emergency training
The ability to effectively present classroom and practical skills presentations utilizing the training materials that are required for each discipline
The ability and stamina to safely utilize full structural firefighting PPE and SCBA while conducting training in a wide array of firefighting exercises
Good written and oral communication skills.
Good computer skills; experienced in using Microsoft Word and using and developing Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
Possess subject matter expertise on structural firefighting, the Incident Command System, and the National Incident Management System
Possess a working knowledge of confined space entry requirements and confined space rescue operations
The ability to effectively monitor training exercises for safety and operational content, and to display the knowledge and skills that are required to coach trainees when deficiencies are noted
Possess a working knowledge of basic first aid and CPR
Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations
The following requisites are preferred but not required:
Certified EMT instructor for the Commonwealth of Virginia
Working knowledge in Hazardous Materials Operations
Virginia Department of Fire Programs Emergency Vehicles instructor
Industrial and/or power generation station experience
Education Requirements
Senior Instructor/Instructor:
Requires Virginia Department of Fire Programs Instructor - level 2, or 3 or equivalent.
2 year college degree is preferred but not required
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Graduate of related Dominion Development Program preferred North Anna and Surry must meet ANS 3.1 12/79, Section 4.4.7.2. Candidates for Sr Instructor positions in Nuclear at Innsbrook must meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 1993, Section 4.5.4

Other Working Conditions
Must be able to climb, walk and/or crawl on multiple levels of stairs, ladders, and grating. Must be able to access all levels of power station environments including roofing structures and/or any underground areas.
Must be able to lift 75 lbs. individually or drag 250 lb. manikins with a team member.
Must be able to wear an SCBA and full face respirator. (no beard policy is required for respirator fit purposes)
Must wear gear that weighs approximately 60-70 lbs. and perform assigned tasks. Gear may be occasionally worn for 5-6 hours during the day.
Must be able to effectively utilize fire fighting tools and equipment associated with the job. (Ex. hoses, nozzles, etc.)
Must be able to crawl into and through confined spaces that can be restricted to as small as 18”.
Must be able to work in proper gear in heat extremes – burn building temperatures can reach 400-600ºF.
Must be able to pass pulmonary function and respirator fit testing
