Description
The Program T (https://www.chq.org/schedule/performing-visual-arts/concerts-and-entertainment/) eam brings artist and creator visions to life by providing behind-the-house support for events and programs. There are multiple events each day, including music and orchestral productions, visual presentations, special functions, lectures, conferences, and meetings. Last-minute changes are part of the daily work routine. As a Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of our eight-guest room facility—seasonal employment during the summer. Weekend availability is preferred.
About Your Compensation
Compensation for this position starts at $16.50/Hour, and with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $18.00/Hour.
About Your Work Day:
Guest Interaction: Acknowledge and interact positively with guests, ensuring a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Room and Common Area Cleaning: Clean guest rooms and common areas, including changing linens, sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash cans, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and mopping floors.
Kitchen and Dining Area Maintenance: Assist with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room area, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, mopping floors, and tidying up.
Deep Cleaning: Perform occasional deep cleaning tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Supply Management: Stock general and cleaning supplies, ensuring all necessary items are available and organized.
Office Assistance: Assist with office duties as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the guest house operations.
Reporting: Report supply ordering needs, damages, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
Appearance Standards: Maintain appearance standards and dress code, including wearing the approved uniform while on duty.
Privacy and Confidentiality: Abide by strict privacy procedures to ensure guest confidentiality. This includes no photographs of or social media posts involving guests.
About the Referral Program
Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program (https://www.chq.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Referral-Bonus-Program-3-8-22.pdf) is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August.
About Your Schedule
Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.
While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:
Will be scheduled to work an average of 25-30 hours/week Typically, staff is scheduled to work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 pm including weekends. Scheduled hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Chautauqua Institution may provide limited housing options on our grounds or assist you with locating nearby housing arrangements for select opportunities based on business needs. Housing is not an option for many positions and may be of a cost to you. Candidates should assume there are no employer-provided or employer-assisted housing options available for this position unless it is otherwise stated.
