Principal Control Systems Engineer (Aerospace)
Remote position, 5-10% travel to Charlotte, NC facility
Pay range: $150,000 - $170,000 base salary;
Job Description
The Principal Control Systems Engineer will develop electromechanical and hydromechanical actuation design solutions for commercial and defense related aircraft flight control and utility actuation applications. You will develop system architectures for integrated actuation sub-systems, and generate associated schematics, diagrams and descriptions to support contracted programs and new business proposals. You will also perform control system design, define system component characteristics and perform system simulation modeling to predict integrated system response dynamics. You will manage requirements and generate sub tier level specifications.
Additional list of responsibilities includes:
• Develop system architecture definition based on required system functionality and performance.
• Perform actuation system simulation modeling using MATLAB/Simulink to predict integrated system response dynamics and operating performance.
• Perform control system design and development using MATLAB tools and environment.
• Develop and maintain system and component requirement specifications and system interface documents in support of the development of software and FPGA based digital controllers.
• Perform analysis to define loading and performance characteristics in support of detailed design of components, major assemblies, software and systems.
• Work within product development teams to support equipment mechanical and electronic design and development from initial proposal through qualification phase.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
• 8+ years of industry experience working for another aviation, aerospace, automotive company, or a similar company that focuses on safety-critical design for electro-mechanical products
• Extensive experience defining systems architectures, reading a set of requirements, providing a set of solutions to fit the list of requirements (could be a mixture of Mechanical and Electrical) and specifically working with DOORS
• Strong skills using MATLAB/Simulink to model components using mathematical models
• Ability to work with teams of hardware, mechanical, controls, software and systems engineers
