Job Description:

We are looking for a Data Management Lead within the Technology function in the AML Compliance division. You will also have the opportunity to provide guidance and leadership beyond your immediate project on significant data driven strategic initiatives to modernize the technology and capabilities to align with the portfolio and enterprise technology roadmaps.

About This Role

We are looking for a Data Management Lead within the Technology function in the AML Compliance division. You will also have the opportunity to provide guidance and leadership beyond your immediate project on significant data driven strategic initiatives to modernize the technology and capabilities to align with the portfolio and enterprise technology roadmaps.

The primary responsibility of our team is to design, develop and maintain the technology platform that processes the banks payments through behaviour detection algorithms to detect suspicious and fraudulent activity.

The open role is for a person who is very familiar and implemented data management and data governance practices in Compliance functions.

For any new products that needs to be monitored the hire will lead the team to work with the various front office and back-office source teams to create data dictionaries that will allow them to transform the data to the target product requirements. The hire will drive the team to obtain data sourcing requirements by working closely with both the Line of business, Compliance business and technology teams. The person will lead the effort to define data quality validations and the various business logic transformations that will be required when sourcing the data. The hire will also lead the data quality testing after the data has been sourced in order to identify gaps that need to be remediated prior to being used in the downstream systems. The hire will lead the team that designs and maintains the data governance process to ensure that data quality and integrity is met when payments and reference data is sent to AML Compliance systems. This will also involve documenting and managing the development of relevant data quality and business logic validations and checks for the feeds that are sent to Target product systems.

• Lead a team of data quality professionals to drive data management initiatives within the AML functions.

• Manage and work with various stakeholders to define the data requirements for various products that need to be sourced for the CRR and Transaction monitoring systems.

• Design and develop processes that will ensure that the data being sourced meets the data quality standards that have been designed.

• Work with development teams to ensure that all data transformation logic has been adequately developed and tested.

• Design and adhere to processes to ensure exceptions are captured and there is governance around how they are managed.

• Develop metrics around data quality to track the quality of data being sourced.

• Define and implement a robust data governance model around the data that is being sourced to ensure that any risks are identified and mitigated.

• Foster an environment and culture that encourages productivity, innovation, process improvement, teamwork, and a high level of professionalism.

Depth & Scope:

  • Expert knowledge of the technical environment/ tools for own area of expertise

  • Expert knowledge of business processes and procedures, as well as broader organizational issues and technology

  • Advanced knowledge of business/ organization, Bank standards, infrastructure, architecture and technology in related areas from a design/ support/ solutions perspective

  • Strong development background in delivering data solutions

  • Data-centric position, focus is broader than application development

  • Requires a blend of skills in big data technologies, database management, data integration tools, system administration, and business acumen

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate

  • Graduate degree, preferred

  • 7+ years related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree with minimum of 10+ years' of working experience in the Banking industry with strong exposure to Financial Services. Background of Information technology, Data Analytics, Business computing will be preferred.

  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience in Data Management including data governance, data quality management including exception management preferably in Compliance functions related to AML – Transaction monitoring.

  • Demonstrated good leadership skills and strategic foresight in implementing data governance practices in Banks.

  • Possess excellent understanding of banking products and data governance concepts including Data quality, Metadata management (Data lineage, Data dictionary), data risk etc.

  • Excellent business understanding of data and payments coming from settlement systems including the flow of funds, payment messaging formats such as Swift and systems such as ACH, Fedwire etc.

  • Good experience with data quality processes related to exception management, implemented DQ validation checks in reporting systems to identify anomalies in source data.

  • Good experience with defining data quality validations for new system implementation.

  • Proven experience with defining data quality requirements, solving data quality issues, and embedding data attestation process with Source teams.

  • Effective influencing and persuasion skills can collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage multiple stakeholders across the bank and navigate challenges with ease.

  • Demonstrated ability in spearheading complex bank-wide data initiatives and able to thrive in a dynamic work environment.

  • Strong people management experience and has managed people in onshore and/or offshore locations with or without direct reporting lines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to forge strong relationships with key business partners, understand financial markets and regulation and apply analytics to drive commercial value.
