Job Title:Lower School Art Teacher Start Date: August 12, 2024 Salary: Based on experience Reports directly to: Director of the Early Learning Center and Lower School Department: Lower School Antilles School is seeking a dynamic and talented art teacher to join a committed team of educators in a collaborative environment that places a high value on educating the whole child. Ideal candidates are passionate and self-motivated professionals, prepared to teach and nurture young children and support a wide range of learning styles and abilities. An understanding of and a commitment to, a culturally and ethnically diverse population is essential. Responsibilities include maintaining a child-friendly classroom and age-appropriate routines to encourage the children to explore and use different art mediums and express themselves creatively. This includes providing opportunities for students to explore their own individual talents and interests. The teacher is expected to be creative and flexible, have a strong knowledge of art history, and have experience with using different art mediums and techniques. A thorough knowledge and understanding of the schools curriculum and the developmental stages of their students is necessary as well as the ability to communicate effectively and work in partnership with teachers. Collaboration with peers and a positive work ethic are expected. Teachers have assigned duties and also need to be willing to help out other teachers as needed. Qualifications include: - Bachelors degree or higher, required, preferably in fine arts and/or art education - Previous successful art experience, required - Demonstrated command of child development and current best practices in elementary education - Ability to partner and communicate effectively with parents - Collaborative professional nature - Understanding of pedagogy and fostering intellectual growth - Ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with multiple constituencies - Excellent communication skills - Cultural competence - Positive, detailed-oriented team player with the ability to be self-directed {=html} - Technological literacy School description: Antilles School is an independent coeducational day school located on St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands.
