Job Description

We are looking for a Principal BI & Data Automation Engineer to join our team of healthcare analytics experts. This role focuses on building scalable data solutions, optimizing SQL performance, automating data workflows, and enhancing business intelligence capabilities using tools like Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), Tableau, Business Objects (BO), and Crystal Reports. The ideal candidate has strong SQL tuning expertise, Python programming skills, and experience in BI content development to empower healthcare analytics with actionable insights.

As a Principal BI & Data Automation Engineer, you will develop and optimize BI data pipelines, automate data processing, and create impactful visualizations that drive strategic decisions. You will work with cutting-edge technologies in cloud-based data engineering, enabling thousands of customers to analyze large-scale healthcare data seamlessly. You will also contribute to the design and performance tuning of SQL queries, indexing strategies, and BI reporting solutions, ensuring optimal efficiency and usability.

This role is ideal for a data engineer with a strong BI and automation mindset, capable of balancing technical excellence with business intelligence needs.

Responsibilities

  • BI & Data Automation: Develop scalable, reusable BI data products and automation solutions for self-service analytics.

  • SQL & Performance Tuning: Optimize complex queries, indexing, and partitioning to enhance reporting efficiency.

  • Python & Scripting: Automate data workflows, ETL processes, and BI content generation.

  • Visualization & BI Tools: Design insightful dashboards and reports using OAC, Tableau, BO, Crystal, and other BI tools.

  • Data Integration: Work with large-scale healthcare data (encounters, conditions, orders, payments) to generate meaningful insights.

  • Scalability & Optimization: Develop solutions that scale across large datasets and multiple healthcare domains.

  • Security & Compliance: Ensure all solutions meet data privacy, security, and compliance standards.

  • Agile Collaboration: Work in an Agile SDLC, supporting product managers and analysts to deliver high-quality BI content.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, BI, or analytics automation.

  • Expert-level SQL skills, including query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.

  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, and analytics.

  • Experience with BI tools such as OAC, Tableau, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Qlik, or Looker.

  • Familiarity with Agile development, source control (Git), and CI/CD processes.

  • Experience building and maintaining scalable data architectures.

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and optimize data workflows for efficiency.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with healthcare data (Claims, EHR, PBM, clinical analytics).

  • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, preferably Oracle Cloud (OCI).

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
