The Role

The Principal API Architect for Lumen’s Network as a Service implementation is responsible for the design and consistency of our API solutions for NaaS. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of API architecture, integration, and management, and will drive the strategic direction of our API initiatives. This role will involve working with network automation and orchestration technologies to enhance our service offerings.

Location

This role is designated as a fully remote position within the United States.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and design of scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define API strategies and standards.

  • Ensure APIs are consistently designed for high availability and disaster recovery.

  • Oversee API lifecycle management, including versioning and deprecation.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance API capabilities.

  • Ensure compliance with security and data privacy regulations.

  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality code.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field with 15+ years of relevant experience or

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field with 12+ years of relevant experience.

  • Extensive experience in software development with a focus on API architecture and design.

  • Strong knowledge of RESTful and SOAP APIs, API gateways, and related technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with microservices architecture and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Experience with API management tools such as Apigee, AWS API Gateway, or similar.

  • Knowledge of GraphQL and gRPC.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Experience with network standards bodies such as MEF or TMF.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$149,084 - $198,779 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY

$156,539 - $208,718 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$163,993 - $218,657 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
