Dairy Farmers of America Maintenance Technician in Cass City, Michigan
Job Description
Ensure that all equipment is operating effectively and efficiently. Must have excellent proficiency in preventative maintenance, over-hauls, modification, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Must also have working knowledge of machine shop equipment and excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment, following all safety procedures
Support the installation of new equipment
Assist the operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
Ensure all repairs are documented
Foster teamwork consistent with our company and plant Mission, Vision, and Core Values
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
Follow all DFA GMP’s and works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrived
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgement
Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

Requirements
High School Diploma/GED
Must have two (2) years of formal mechanical / electrical education certificate or equivalent work experience doing maintenance type work
Must be able to perform electrical work (change pump motors, diagnose motor control problems, etc.)
Must know pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders
Must be able to use standard maintenance tools in a safe manner
Must have the ability to perform minor projects from planning to installation. (Typically, this includes non-sanitary piping, drain lines, vacuum lines)
Must have the ability to perform routine repairs in a safe and timely fashion (rebuilding product/water pumps, boiler maintenance, HVAC, VFD’s, sanitary valves, piping leaks)
Must have the ability to perform routine preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records
Must have the ability to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (tig/stick)
Must have the ability to follow process control computer variables and schematics and diagnose system problems
Must have the ability to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner
Must have good interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and effectively communicate with others
Must be able to successfully complete a written maintenance test conducted by Maintenance Supervisor
Basic computer skills
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
