Kinder Morgan, Inc. Regional Operations Director - Northeast Region in Carteret, New Jersey

Position Description

Primary Purpose:

Act as the Operations Lead for the assigned Region. Through activities, primarily through direction of staff, is responsible to meet established goals and objectives toward Safety, Quality and Environmental Compliance as well as maintaining the operations budget for assigned terminals in the region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Change Agent and leader in the development of a Culture modeled around Safety, Quality and Environmental Compliance
Through selection, mentoring, development, aquisition of bench strength, evaluation and where necessary, discipline, develop an effective Operations team for the Region.
Facilitate the development of Operations goals and objectives. Monitor progress toward established goals and objectives.
Act as the operations principle for the region, providing visible and decisive direction toward the achievement of goals and objectives, operations efficiency, continuous improvement and accountability at the facilities.
Actively coordinate with Commercial staff in the support of sales, customer service and business development.
Develop and operate within operational budget for the fiscal year. Approves expenses and leads accountability for opearations in the Region.
Serve as a key participant in the operational and financial (budget / forecast) reporting process related to regional activities.
Direct and coordinate operations in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Execute programs to monitor and maintain or improve quality, continuous process improvement, employee and operational safely and comply with environmental, safety and other regulations at facilities within the region.
Develop and report operational key performance indicators to customers to enhance performance expectations and customer satisfaction for a diversified customer base while managing operational requirements and overseeing the execution of contractual obligations
Ensure the maintenance and life-cycle planning of Regional assets.
Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Education:
4 year degree in Business, Engineering or applicable field experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Experience/Specefic Knowlewdge:
A minimum of 3 years of experience managing liquid terminals/pipelines or terminal operations handling liquid/bulk materials.

Competencies/Licenses/Certifications:
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable by the company insurance carrier
Will be required to obtain and maintain TWIC credentials to work at various locations within the company.
Competencies/ Skills/Abilities:
Must demonstrate an understanding of the budget process and financial metrics.
History of demonstrated team leadership capability
Abililty to clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English. Communicate upwardly, laterally and downward within the company organization with customers, regulators, and others as necessary.
Ability to take and give direction and work cooperatively with others
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
Diligent and proactive with strong attention to detail and results oriented
Physical Demands:
Ability to travel frequently and stay away from home during travels
Ability to hear communications from others and give input / directions verbally
Ability to observe employees, operations, processes, equipment and facilities and contribute when necessary.
Working Conditions:
Frequent travel within the regional area of responsibility with occasional travel to Houston, TX or other locations
Supervisor Responsibility:
Supervises the Operations workforce of the Region
