Maintenance Associate I

Schedule

  • $20.00 to $25.00 per hour + additional $2.00 per hour for shift differential. PAID WEEKLY!

  • 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • Monday through Friday NO WEEKENDS

Major Responsibilities

  • Performs pre-trip inspection of vehicles, trailers, and cargo to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order, and to ensure that cargo is undamaged and all load-related documentation is complete and accurate. Delivers product from the Distribution Center to the customers’ location, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area.

  • Unloads product from truck to customers’ dock, inspecting cargo and completing required documentation.

  • Performs all job responsibilities in adherence with established Company driving policies and procedures. Remains compliant with Company, state and federal testing and licensing requirements, submitting proof as requested.

  • Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles as required per Company policies and procedures. Understands and demonstrates Essendant's Core Values.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Ability to perform all required tasks within the scope of Maintenance 1 to the level of established productivity required and in keeping with applicable Standard Operating Procedures, rules, established processes and Quality guidelines.

  • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and controlled manner, i.e., box erector, tape machine, Taylor Dunn, material handling equipment etc.

  • Ability to appropriate technology in an effective manner in performance of the function, i.e., pick-to-voice, computer, scanner, etc.

  • Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner, following all safety rules and guidelines.

  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with housekeeping of the facility/work area.

  • Assist and/or help out in other Distribution Center functions as required.

  • Ability to follow simple directions (verbal and written) in English.

  • Ability to perform basic math.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Certifications: As specified.

  • One (1) year general maintenance experience required.

  • Warehouse/Distribution-related experience preferred.
