Synchrony VP, Supervisory Affairs in Canton, Ohio

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

This role will be responsible for producing all communications, reporting and analytics for Synchrony's Supervisory Affairs team. Additionally, this position will be responsible for partnering with functions across Synchrony on MRA remediation and validation efforts, and for communication and examination facilitation between Synchrony Financial and banking regulatory onsite teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Produce regular communications summarizing supervisory interactions, areas of regulatory focus, relevant regulatory developments, and emerging regulatory risks for executive leadership and other stakeholders, including briefing notes for Board members.

  • Prepare all Committee reporting for the Supervisory Affairs team including the Enterprise Risk Management Committee ('ERMC') and Risk Committee of the Board.

  • Serve as point person for Supervisory Affairs on all MRA-related matters, collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that action plans and responses to regulators appropriately address risks and required corrective actions. Develop MRA analytics to provide further reporting on aging and risk themes.

  • Partner with functional areas to guide their remediation of regulatory findings (MRA) through Synchrony's issue validation process; support teams across all functions with regulatory communication and documentation efforts to validate MRA internally and provide evidence for closure. Facilitate the MRA Working Group discussions for each MRA.

  • Present quarterly to Compliance and Operational Risk Sub Committees, which includes synthesizing relevant information and identifying meaningful themes tailored to this audience.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for interactions with regulatory agencies on exams and other regulatory inquiries.

  • Drive awareness of regulatory trends and other activity across the business.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of working in the financial services industry; in lieu of a degree 12+ years working in the financial services industry

  • 3+ years' experience communicating at various levels of management in a corporate environment.

  • 3+ years' experience in a cross functional or matrix level environment

  • Risk, Audit, Governance or Regulatory background in a control environment

  • Experience presenting to Senior Leadership

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Grade/Level: 13

The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
