Mercy Hospital's Float Pool provides care to a diverse population of patients on med/surg and critical care units, depending on the experience and expertise of the RN. This is a great oppotunity for the experienced RN to grow in their nursing skills and serve where there is need.

A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM - 7:30AM and/or 11:00PM-7:30AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide direct nursing care.

• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

• Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.

• Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

• External applicants must have two years recent related experience. Internal applications with less than two years experience but post orientation/90 day probationary period could be considered with CNO review and approval.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
