FAVARH'S PROJECT SEARCH

  • Favarhs Project SEARCH is a unique, school-to-work transition program for young adults with disabilities. Project SEARCH uses a combination of classroom instruction coupled with workplace internships to prepare individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities for competitive employment.

Position Description:

The Career Coachreports directly to the Site Instructor and is responsible for implementing procedures and individual programs that will enhance opportunities for student internships for Project Search Programs as part of the Favarh Transitional Service Program. Responsible for the on-going support of the Site Instructor in the management of daily operations, service delivery, facility, equipment, transportation, program facility cleanliness, health and safety, and overall implementation of policy and procedures. As well as actively involved in the organization and implementation of project assignments and actively participates with planning special events.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides proactive mentorship and guidance to host site staff, substitutes, interns and visitors daily.
  • Plan and teach Employment Curriculum.
  • Assist students with completion of resumes and portfolios.
  • Works directly with host site staff with orientation and training of student interns.
  • Job analysis for each internship, securing student internships and the job placements for students at host site and within community.
  • Assist with marketing programs and assists with the development of internship opportunities with business liaisons.
  • Assists with job development placements for students within host setting and/ or community businesses.
  • Monitors student progress at all internship assignments.
  • Implements all project search guidelines in accordance with licensing agreement and is a liaison with all project partners.
  • Attends Steering Committees and designated meetings as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance as needed.
  • On-going completion of outcome-based data in accordance with Projects Search Curriculum, Favarh policy and procedures, educational IEP goals and state documentation requirements.
  • Participates and supports students at employment meetings as needed.
  • Coordinates transportation arrangements and travel training for students.
  • Communicate information between management, staff of business/community, and agency regarding program operations.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience working in the field of Health, Education, Rehabilitation and/or Residential Services is preferred.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of two years of college education from an accredited college in Special Education and/or Residential Services and/or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • PMT, CPR certifications required (we will train)
  • Must possess a valid and in good standing State of Connecticut Drivers License for 3 years and clean driving record.

  • Ability to proficiently naviga e through organizational web-based client documentation software system-Therap
  • Serves as a model Favarh employee while performing duties and responsibilities and in the presence of students, their families, host site and the Favarh community.

  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule to meet the requirements of Project Search, nights, weekends, and flexible hours.
