Render Security Engineering Electrical Engineer in California, Maryland

We are seeking a self-starting and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to lead and execute cross-functional hardware and software integration efforts, helping to shape our Uncrewed Systems (UxS) roadmap. In this role, you will define and own deliverables from rapid prototyping to product development and production. Youll play a pivotal role in the design, validation, and iteration of a variety of UxS components, payloads, and subsystems, bridging hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration.
Functional Description: Lead the development and integration of embedded IT systems for UxS platforms Interface with a range of onboard systems, including sensors, cameras, flight controllers, radios, and other critical hardware Develop, prototype, and validate electrical modules, ensuring they meet system and project requirements Oversee communication protocols and serial interfaces, such as UART, SPI, and I2C, for reliable component connectivity Work closely with hardware and software teams to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and streamline integration Document designs, including CAD drawings, BOMs, and testing procedures, to support production and future scalability Assess and enhance integration and testing processes to improve performance, reliability, and scalability of embedded systems Conduct electrical validation tests, including EMI/EMC testing, thermal shock, ESD, and other environmental assessments Partner with production teams to define manufacturing and testing processes for production Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to guide part designs according to project specifications
Preferred Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other applicable disciplines. Applicable experience will be considered for degree substitution.
Experience: At least 3-12 years of experience in the embedded systems, robotics, or related field Experience with embedded IT systems, including working knowledge of Unix-based operating systems (Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL) Hands-on experience with serial communication protocols, including UART, SPI, and I2C Proven track record of designing, testing, and validating electrical systems from prototype to production At least 3 years of experience in embedded systems integration, with a preference for experience working with sensors, cameras, flight controllers, or radios Familiarity with production processes for electronic components and production test systems Basic scripting and coding skills (e.g., Python or shell scripting) to facilitate integration and testing Strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to lead cross-functional projects from concept to completion Self-driven with a problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to tackling open-ended technical challenges Proficiency with ECAD software is desirable Drone or robotics experience is a plus, particularly in environments with stringent SWaP constraints Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration

This position has an annual salary range of $90,000 to $170,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and education and in consideration of internal pay equality.
