Jacobs Transportation Engineer in Calgary, Alberta
We are looking for an enthusiastic Transportation Engineer with a focus on Highways and Roads. You’ll be working on exciting and engaging transportation projects for our public sector clients across Canada. You’ll be working in a hybrid arrangement from home and from one of our offices (Burnaby, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, or Ottawa), with the expectation of occasional travel for client meetings and team meetings.
Responsibilities:
Successful completion of preliminary and detailed design of municipal roadway and highways using OpenRoads and Civil 3d
Design of H&V alignment, plan and profile, corridor, cross-section, pavement elevation, pavement marking, signage, drainage, removal, grading, AODA compliant pedestrian MUT and sidewalk, intersection, interchange, driveway, temporary staging and erosion control
Prepare road construction specifications, tender drawing package, quantities, including grading report, cut/fill volume, earthwork balance
Review technical documents, specifications, engineering drawings and engineering reports
Engineering calculations, prepare data sheets,
Prepare technical memo and reports as required
Assistant project manager, cost tracking, project schedule tracking, risk tracking, change management tracking
Participate in client meetings, prepare meeting agenda and minutes
Participate in proposal writing, RFP, RFQ’s
Present and coordinate with other disciplines, third party utility, stakeholders and contractors
Development and training of junior staff
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Licensed P.Eng. (or ability to secure such designations within 6 months)
7-10 years of relevant work experience in transportation (public or private sectors)
Thorough knowledge and work history with OpenRoads and Civil 3d
A solid foundation with road design principles, TAC, OTM, OPSD, OPSS, codes and design standards
High energy, positive team attitude and open to feedback
Strong organization and time management skills
Flexible to accommodate changing project and deliverable needs
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboration with other disciplines
Experience in tender documents and specifications packages
Ideally you’ll also have:
High proficiency in design software AutoCAD, Microstation, AutoTURN, Bluebeam, Projectwise
Working experience in design across project lifecycle: preliminary, conceptual, functional, detailed, O&M
Knowledge with AT, BC MOTT, MTO, TAC, etc. design codes, guidelines and standards
Excellent communication and organizational skills
