Job Description
The Program Cost Consultancy of AECOM is currently seeking pragmatic, highly talented and experienced Cost Management Surveyor . This role can be done on a "hybrid" basis--meaning, a combination of work from home and work out of any of the AECOM offices located in: Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Markham, ON; Mississauga, ON.
Major Responsibilities:
Complete Mechanical, Electrical and Process (MEP) cost estimating, cost control, project controls, contracts review, change order review through pre-contract design phases.
Managing and assisting in post- contract change order review.
During the Design Phase, the job incumbent will:
Prepare preconstruction cost estimates for commercial and infrastructure projects across Canada.
Developing detailed MEP cost estimates from engineering drawings; identify deficiencies and/or questions; and assist the project team toward the answers.
Completing comparative system cost options i.e. cost alternatives or Value Engineering and reviews to help the design team in selection processes through-out the pre-contract design phases.
Be willing to accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
Preparation of Class D – A cost estimate.
Provide coordination and liaison with project management and project engineering personnel throughout the estimate development.
During the Construction phase, the job incumbent might:
Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and cost allowances for scope changes
Review the scope specified within the proposal to ensure it is specification compliant
Review labour rates to ensure conformance to the contract requirements
Review labour productivity to ensure that the labor hours are in conformance with contract working restrictions, overtime is appropriate, etc.
Review quantities and ensure there is a fair and reasonable representation of additional scope, as well as possible credits
Review pre-purchased material or equipment and/or equipment rental rates against fair and reasonable pricing reference
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
University Degree in relevant field of study + 8 (eight) years of relevant experience in cost estimating, cost control, project controls.
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
Preferred Requirements:
PQS/MRICS designation
Experience preparing preconstruction cost estimates for commercial and infrastructure projects
Experience managing and assisting in post- contract change order review.
Have an understanding for the make-up of net-costs; including review of equipment/material prices, labor rates/ fringe benefits.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $93,000.00 - $145,000.00.
