Your role and responsibilities

System Installation and Configuration

*

Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, etc.) on different operating systems and databases.

*

Perform installation of SAP components (SAP NetWeaver, SAP Hana DB, etc.).

*

Set up the system landscape for SAP (development, quality, and production systems).

*

System Monitoring and Performance Tuning

*

Monitor system performance using SAP tools (e.g., SAP Solution Manager, ST03, SM51).

*

Optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning strategies.

*

Regularly check system logs for any errors and resolve them.

*

User and Security Management

*

Manage SAP user accounts (create, update, and delete).

*

Assign roles and profiles according to business needs and security guidelines.

*

Implement and enforce security policies such as password policies, access controls, etc.

*

Transport Management

*

Manage SAP Transport Directory (TMS) for transferring changes across different SAP systems (e.g., from Development to Quality to Production).

*

Ensure proper transport of configuration and development changes, resolving transport issues if necessary.

*

Backup and Recovery

*

Design and implement backup strategies for SAP systems and databases.

*

Regularly back up the system (both database and application data) to prevent data loss.

*

Test and ensure disaster recovery procedures are in place and functional.

*

Client Management

*

Create, copy, and delete clients as needed.

*

Perform client refresh and export/import operations.

*

Implement client-dependent and independent copies.

*

System Upgrades and Patches

*

Install and apply patches and upgrades for SAP systems (e.g., SAP Kernel updates, Support Package Stacks).

*

Monitor and perform SAP system updates (SAP HANA, NetWeaver, etc.).

*

Ensure system stability after upgrades and patches.

*

Job Scheduling and Batch Management

*

Schedule background jobs for routine tasks (e.g., data archiving, database maintenance).

*

Monitor and resolve issues related to SAP background jobs.

*

Landscape Management

*

Manage multiple SAP system instances in an SAP landscape.

*

Ensure proper system replication, synchronization, and connectivity between SAP systems.

*

Oversee the configuration of the SAP Netweaver Gateway, SAP Fiori, and other technologies.

*

Database Administration

*

Oversee database management (e.g., HANA, Oracle, MS SQL).

*

Perform database tuning and optimization.

*

Monitor database space, growth, and perform regular checks for integrity.

*

Transport of Data

*

Coordinate and manage the transport of data across SAP systems (e.g., transport data between environments).

*

Ensure smooth and error-free data transport processes.

*

SAP System Integration

*

Work on integrating SAP with other third-party systems and applications.

*

Oversee the setup of middleware like SAP PI/PO (Process Integration/Process Orchestration) for seamless communication between systems.

*

Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution

*

Resolve performance issues, system crashes, or other SAP-related issues.

*

Identify root causes of problems, including memory dumps, system logs, and errors.

*

Work with SAP Support for critical issues requiring escalation.

*

Documentation

*

Maintain documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.

*

Document best practices, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.

*

Collaboration and Coordination

*

Coordinate with SAP functional consultants, developers, and business users to understand requirements and ensure system integrity.

*

Work with infrastructure teams (network, hardware, OS) to ensure smooth SAP operations.

*

Monitoring and Alerts

*

Set up monitoring tools to track system performance and alerts.

*

Act on critical alerts (e.g., system downtimes, memory issues, or system crashes) and resolve them promptly.

*

Licensing and Compliance

*

Ensure that SAP systems are compliant with licensing agreements.

*

Monitor and track software usage and licensing.

*

Support for SAP HANA and Cloud Services

*

Provide support for cloud-based SAP solutions such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud or SAP Cloud Platform.

*

Work on SAP HANA-specific configurations, tuning, and monitoring.

Required technical and professional expertise

*

Technical Skills: SAP systems (S/4HANA, ECC, BW), operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.), databases (SAP HANA, Oracle, SQL), SAP NetWeaver, security management, performance tuning, disaster recovery.

*

Tools: SAP Solution Manager, SAP GUI, SAP HANA Studio, transport management, job scheduling tools.

*

Professional Skills: Project management, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, attention to detail, documentation.

*

Certifications (Optional): SAP, ITIL, Linux, Oracle certifications.
