Based out of our newly renovated office in Burnaby, British Columbia, this role will be a full-time position. In this position, you’ll provide technical leadership and guidance regarding environmental protection and compliance to our multidisciplinary teams (engineering and environment practitioners) and infrastructure clients through all stages of a project lifecycle. As the Lead of Environmental Protection and Compliance, the successful candidate will use their specialized in-depth knowledge to grow our technical discipline team through on-the-job mentorship and hiring. The successful candidate will provide strategic input to the growth of the business and lead business development efforts for environmental protection and compliance. Establishing and maintaining relationships with members of the public, government and non-government communities, associations, tenure holders and Indigenous communities will be important in this role. B.Sc. (required) or M.Sc. in a Natural Resources related field (biology, environmental planning, ecology, forestry, or geography).
A minimum 15 years of experience in the natural resources sector in British Columbia, preferably in a consulting environment.
Hold a CPESC designation.
Strong technical writing skills and familiarity with BC environmental regulations and requirements, including but not limited to the BC Environmental Assessment Act, BC Energy Resource Activities Act, and the Water Sustainability Act; knowledge of municipal permitting requirements in BC is an asset.
Demonstrated experience leading a collaborative team with a focus on mentorship and contributing to the preparation of environmental assessments for a diverse range of projects
Experience engaging with regulatory agencies, stakeholders and Indigenous communities.
Experience providing strategic advice to clients and internal teams by identifying risk and opportunities for value add.
Experience leading business development efforts.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Positive attitude, self-motivated with strong initiative
A driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract for client meetings.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Experience working with a diverse range of industrial sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and energy
An interest or experience in Project Management is an asset
