Job Title: Panel DesignerJob Description

We are seeking a Panel Designer who will use electrical principles to turn rough electrical panel ideas into complete submittals ready for production. The ideal candidate will work with internal and external customers to determine the boundaries of their design and select components to match requirements or specifications.

Responsibilities

• Utilize electrical design principles to create detailed panel designs.

• Determine input power requirements for panels.

• Identify and mitigate risk points such as short circuit current rating, and manage both high and low voltage (120v/277v/480v).

• Select appropriate electrical components including breakers, relays, and wire gauges.

• Ensure designs meet UL508A certification standards.

• Collaborate with customers to understand design boundaries and specifications.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in electrical design principles.

• Experience with input power, short circuit current ratings, and voltage management.

• Knowledge of electrical component selection, including breaker curves, coiler voltages, and relays.

• Understanding of wire gauge and load calculations.

• Active UL508A certification.

• 5-10 years of experience in electrical design, ISO 9001/9000 standards, project management, mechanical aptitude, and Six Sigma.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of ISO9000/9001 standards.

• Project Management skills including lead time and ordering time.

• PMP certification.

• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.

• Six Sigma certification.

• Ability to redline and knowledge of MEP construction drawings.

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Work Environment

This position is based in a panel manufacturing shop, primarily involving desk work and idea execution. The team is small, with direct interaction with 2-3 team members and collaboration with a larger group of engineers, sales individuals, and customers. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $72.00/hr.
