DePaul Residential Treatment Facilities Specialist in Buffalo, New York

Overview

The role of the Residential Treatement Facilities (RTF) Specialist is to chair the monthly RTF Authorization Team which determines a youth’s eligibility for possible placement in an OMH licensed Residential Treatment Program. The RTF Specialist prepares and processes referrals for review by the RTF Authorization Team and informs the referral sources of the decision outcome. The RTF Specialist works with the 4 Western RTF’s which are licensed through the Office of Mental Health to monitor the RTF wait list, assist in licensing visits and providing clinical assistance, collaborative problem solving and regulatory technical assistance. Additional duties are present in the fiscal functioning of the RTF’s. Collaboration with local governments, community providers and sister state agencies. Assistance and guidance in providing information to parents, referral sources on community-based services and OMH resources. Some travel and overnight are required. Flexibility in schedule as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Western Region’s RTF Authorization Team process.

  • Provide technical assistance, which includes clinical support to the four RTFs in the Western Region.

  • Participate in OMH licensing and monitoring visits.

  • Complete reviews of the RTF Transition Coordinator programs, disseminate reports and monitor implementation of Performance Improvement Plans; monitor flex funds; and convene meetings.

  • Attend meetings throughout the Western Region and in Albany as needed.

  • Process regulatory requests from RTFs.

  • Generate and distribute data reports as needed.

  • Responsible for special projects.

  • Collaborate with community-based programs.

Qualifications

  • A Licensed Master’s in Social Work or Licensed in a related Human Services field with 3 - 5 years of clinical experience.

  • 1.0 Full-time Equivalent to work in the NYS Office of Mental Health’s Western New York Field Office (WNYFO) in Buffalo, NY under the supervision of its Director of Children and Family Services.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds without assistance.
